Nearly a third of the plastic packaging placed in the Indian market is used for rigid packaging applications such as bottles used for personal and homecare products, drinking water, and carbonated soft drinks. Rigid plastic packaging can be designed for improved recyclability, which ensures that it is efficiently collected, sorted, and recycled without degradation of the recyclate. This guidance aims to create awareness and understanding among stakeholders across the plastics value chain on how their design decisions affect recyclability of rigid plastic packaging.
